PsychoGenics to provide testing in the R6/2 Mouse Model for Huntington disease

PsychoGenics Inc. Tarrytown, New York has signed a license agreement enabling it to provide behavioral phenotyping and compound evaluation services using the transgenic R6/2 mouse model for Huntington Disease. Huntington Disease is a devastating and ultimately fatal neurological condition for which no treatment currently exists. Proteome Systems and High Q collaborate to identify and characterize biomarkers for monitoring disease progression and treatment of Huntington's disease

Sydney, Australia and New York, USA, 19 April 2004 - Proteome Systems and the High Q Foundation today announced an agreement to collaborate on a proteomic program for Huntington’s Disease (HD), comprising biomarker identification and molecular characterization of the Huntingtin protein. Proteome Systems will characterize changes in protein expression and modification that result from malfunction of the Huntingtin protein in order to identify biomarkers of HD. Candidate biomarkers will be formulated into tests using Proteome Systems DiagnostIQ platform and used for monitoring disease progression and measuring outcomes of clinical trials. Proteome Systems will also apply its proprietary advanced technologies for characterization of large proteins and protein modification analysis to identify differences between the wild-type and mutant Huntingtin proteins. more... Nominations Sought for Compounds to Test for Huntington's Disease

The Huntington Project has launched a broad-based effort to systematically evaluate compounds to test as potential treatments for Huntington’s disease. As a first step in this effort, the Huntington Project is asking everyone in the HD community – clinicians, scientists, individuals affected by HD, and advocacy organizations -- to nominate experimental treatments that they believe should be considered for research evaluation.
